 Using the recently issued 2008 ACI (American Concrete Institute) Code, the fourteenth edition of the renowned textbook Design of Concrete Structures is totally rewritten. 

The goals of this new edition are the same as those of the previous ones: to build competence in the techniques utilized in contemporary design practice, and to first create a solid grasp of the behavior of structural concrete.

 Design of Concrete Structures includes homework problems, updated examples, and information on the behavior and design of concrete. There is now more content on seismic design, headed deformed bars for anchorage, thin column design, and headed studs for shear reinforcement of slabs. 

A thorough update was made to the notation to reflect modifications made to the ACI Code. The fundamentals of structural concrete mechanics are also covered in the text.
